All about the Highland Whisky Trail.

First we drive to either Clynelish or Balblair Distillery.  Balblair is one of the older distilleries, having been founded in 1790 and located on the southern shore of the Dornoch Firth, in the village of Edderton. Clynelish has recently been refurbished and offers a unique tour and tasting in the new Johnny Wallker bar. We then head  to Glenmorangie Distillery, located in Tain, with great views across the firth to Dornoch.  Glenmorangie have been at the forefront of whisky technology and are renowned for their innovation with their selection and use of casks. After a tour of the distillery and a tasting, we head north across the Dornoch bridge and to the final whisky destination – the Carnegie Whisky Cellars.

No they are not. Each Distillery have different tastings, some more expensive than others. You can either book the Tasting direct to the Distillery or we can book it for you. Clients pay for the Tastings and any other drinks purchased, at the Distillery.

One of the tastings that they conduct is a ‘blind’ tasting – where you may receive two or three drams and you have to guess the whisky region of Scotland and then the actual distillery itself! If you do not want a full tasting, we can just browse the shop and take a dram next door at the Dornoch Castle Hotel. Your choice.
