Alastair grew up in the Borders of Scotland and went to school in Edinburgh. He then spent 27 years in the military and law enforcement sector, serving with Gurkha soldiers in both the British Army and for the Singapore Government. However when his time was up, he decided to re-locate back to Scotland. Alastair has always had a passion for the geography of the Scottish Highlands and on his return he started a second career in the hospitality, travel and tourism sector. Since 2014 he has worked at the Invergordon Cruise Centre, at the private Carnegie Club and most recently as Operations Manager at the five star Links House in Dornoch. He is mad keen on the outdoors and is an active hillwalker, mountain biker and golfer and also enjoys water sports. In early 2021, he decided to join forces with friend and former tour guide, George Murray, to develop a leading North Highland Experiences company – Highland Explorer.
