Marcus is the owner and MD of the Highland Shooting Centre (HSC) near Lairg. He was born in Sutherland and raised on the Alladale estate, where his father was Head Keeper. He learned the craft of gamekeeping from an early age and was employed as a ‘pony boy’ on the Athol estate and later on the Isle of Rhum. He also worked on a large grouse state in County Durham in the late 1980s. In 1991, he took over as Head Keeper at Alladale and developed it into a first-class sporting estate.

In 2012, Marcus set up HSC and it is now the premier shooting facility in the north of Scotland, comprising indoor and outdoor rifle ranges and the highest level of clay pigeon shooting facilities – FITASC. HSC is now a recognised Scottish Clay Target Ground Member and has hosted five legs of the Scottish Clay Pigeon championship. Marcus is Deer Management qualified 1 and 2, Professional Hunter status and former Scottish Clay DTL champion. He is also a Zeiss Pro Hunter and registered Scottish Natural Heritage Wildlife contractor, qualified Range Conducting Officer and Gun Trade Association business member.
